The holiday season is just around the corner and if you are entertaining at your home, you may be thinking it could use a “space-lift”.  Maybe your furniture is a bit drab and dated, but with a few easy decorating tips, your home could rise for the occasion and it doesn't have to take a ton of money or time.  Making a big impact with limited resources is the objective here…
Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize... Target the rooms that your guests will be utilizing the most:  dining, living and powder room.  With just the right amount of accessories, transform your space instantly…
Living Room

-    SLIPCOVER, rather than purchase new pieces of furniture.  There is a slew available in various fabrics and colors at larger outlets like Pottery Barn, Bed, Bath & Beyond and other online stores.  Different sizes are also available to fit your sofa, chairs and ottomans.  I would opt for the cozier, winter fabrics like velvet or chenille.

-    SHEEPSKIN RUGS, one favorite thing about sheep skin rugs is their exquisite softness and warmth

-    CURLY WILLOW,  combine curly willow with few long stem flowers or eucalyptus and assemble into a long, vertical vase.  Now place next to your living room sofas or onto a side table and ENJOY!

-    THROW,  Add a cozy throw over your sofa – easy reach for a cozy winter evening and a comfy addition to your living room. From laviva

-    METALLIC PILLOWS or TONE on TONE, will give your room an elegant and festive look without breaking your bank.
o    Studded with large and small accent mirrors, the John Robshaw Sheesha Ivory Handwoven Pillow dazzles with a shimmering effect .

Dining Room
– rugs, throws, candles, glassware

-   CENTERPIECE, Make your dining table the center of attention with a beautiful centerpiece that combines the different textures and colors of the season right on your dinner table.

Two options:

-    A collection of ceramic or glass vases in various sizes, silhouettes in colors like yellows, oranges or any fall hues.  Fill them with sunflowers or fall foliage.

OR

-    Visit your local florist and bring home a collection of curly twigs.  Assemble into your favorite narrow vase like the blenko vase below and surround with matching white candles.

-  TABLECLOTHS, NAPKINS & RUNNERS, Offset the centerpiece with fresh cream or white heavy cotton fabrics, white on white prints like damasks are hot this season

-  NAPKIN RINGS , it’s all in the details – take a look at these sparkly rings with glimmering pyrite sure to have your guests smiling…by thad cline

-   CANDLES, Bring the sparkle inside…

Use clear bowls or other clear decorative containers and float white candles with seasonal mums.

 Powder Room
-

-    Change out the towels in your powder room. Try a rich cranberry red, pine forest green, golden squash or warm chestnut brown.

-    Splurge on an old world expedition mirror at a great bargain also from maisonluxe.net
