Last year my husband and I had a rushed move from Los Angeles to San Francisco. We were eager to get settled in, so we ended up purchasing a sofa we love- the Crate & Barrel Petrie sofa-in a color we don’t especially like. Like many, we loved the white version, but it was much too unpractical (especially with a black dog), and we didn’t want to order a custom color and go weeks without any seating. Though the Espresso brown we chose is a good neutral and pairs well with many other colors, paired with our other furniture it feels much too dark.
So recently I turned to Lara for advice on brightening up the sofa and adding a cozy touch to it as well. A slipcover would hide the amazing button details on the sofa, and I wanted to veer away from the traditional throw, and she gave me the perfect solution, sheepskins!
By sewing real or faux sheepskins together in a Yamamoto-esque way, it creates an organic and fun design that is unique, modern and super cozy. (IKEA has small sheepskins for $25 each, and for higher quality ones there are multiple sources like Kiwi Sheepskins, EcoWool and Overstock.) I can’t wait to get started on this!
