About Designers Call

Founded on the simple philosophy that high-end interior design should be accessible to everyone, Designers Call was created by Lara Fishman, Owner and Principal Designer of Storm Interiors.

Designers Call started after a number of Lara's friends and clients, many of them parents and busy working professionals, wanted to have their homes designed by a professional, but simply could not afford the time or costs.

Lara’s approach was to combine Storm Interiors’ unique aesthetic with practical knowledge of design and construction and a fully-retrofitted DesignWagen™ to help her clients. Designers Call began delivering fast, affordable decorating services and design products straight to her clients' homes, saving them both time and money.

In addition to offering eco-friendly design solutions, Designers Call provides expert, step-by-step guidance that empowers clients to express their own sense of style. This unique approach brings beautiful, effective results to projects of any size. Lara has personally selected individual designers to be members of her elite design team that work closely with clients. Members of the Designers Call design team have substantial experience and education in the interior design industry and testimonials speak to their professionalism.

About Lara Fishman

Lara is the driving force behind Designers Call. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Lara was influenced by her mother's passion for interior design, antiques, fine art, fashion and her talent for merging disparate styles, colors and patterns into beautiful cohesive living environments.

After studying French Literature at Tulane University and living in France, Lara cultivated a deep interest in European design traditions. In 1998, she completed a four-year course of study at UCLA's prestigious School of Interior and Environmental Design, working concurrently as a furniture designer to expand her knowledge of the custom-design process.

In 1998, Lara joined Kelly Wearstler Interior Design (KWID) as a senior designer and design team supervisor for residential and commercial projects such as The Viceroy and Maison 140, before founding her full-service interior design firm, Storm Interiors, in 2000. In 2008, Lara launched Designers Call, a specialized decorating service that addresses the growing need of consumers seeking professional design services but lacking the large budget or time required by the traditional design process. Lara is an allied member of ASID.

About Michele LaFon

Michele's love for art and design began at a very early age, making clothes for her Barbie as soon as she was allowed to use a sewing machine. Her dollhouse was always fabulously decorated with almost all of the furniture and accessories handmade by her, including tiny wax tapers dipped on pieces of thread and handpainted wallpaper. Her love for fabric led to a career in fashion, designing textiles and clothing for children. Michele is an artist, loves textile crafts and is constantly making things. She is happiest when surrounded by piles of gorgeous fabric!

Originally from New Jersey, Michele has spent the past fifteen years in San Francisco and recently earned a certificate in Interior Design/Interior Architecture from UC Berkeley Extension. She loved the program, where she learned everything from drafting to lighting design. She is happily convinced that designing interiors is the perfect place for her talents. Additionally, Michele is inspired by designers who aren't afraid to break the rules and is drawn to spaces that have a little tension: conflicting scale, mismatched pattern, a little chaos.

Michele's husband's animation career recently brought them to Southern California, where a serendipitous phone call to Lara led her to Designers Call. Michele currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Matt and their Morkie, GIR.
